ROBIN TAKAO D’OENCH, writer, director, producer. Born and raised in New York City, he attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and Stern’s School of business, graduating in 2012.

His short film TADAIMA follows a Japanese American family as they rebuild their home from war when they return to their former house in 1945 at the end of World War II and after the closure of the US Internment camps. The film was an official selection at over forty international film festivals, won nearly a dozen awards; and competed against three of the five 2015 Academy Award nominated films (including Oscar Winner “Stutterer”). The film has been featured on Comcast OnDemand, Seed & Spark, and continues to have live screenings across the country with the “Hidden Histories Program” hosted by Full Spectrum Pictures. The film is currently online for free and has well received by audiences.

He was commissioned by Headway Foundation to write, direct, produce a short film called NEW TOUGH for the Eastern College Athletic Conference National Concussion Awareness weekend. The four-minute film features real hockey players from the 2017 Gunnery High school Varsity Hockey Team and was released on Facebook Video, Youtube and Live Screened at eight separate college arenas on the jumbotrons to collectively over 100k views.

He continues to write and direct short form digital content, his clients include, SuperSwell, Headway Foundation, Light Bulb Pictures, Kitchemistry LLC and JAJ Films.

He was a co-producer and the NY Production Manager for the 2017 MTV Video Music Award nominated “Treat You Better” by Shawn Mendes. The music video currently has 1.3 Billion views on Youtube and is in the top 50 most watched videos of all time.

His Production clients include Shawn Mendes, Gramatik, Electric Zoo, Tattle Tale Films, Singular DTV, and Plum Pictures.

Robin also works part time as an Assistant Director, his clients include GAP, Vera Wang, Elizabeth Arden, NYC Ballet, Sony, Derek Lam, Seagram’s, Cup Noodle, General Electric, Capezio, Bengay, Cadillac West Las Vegas, Tajin, Tandem Pictures, and ID Discovery.
